Lunchboxes (well, not quite!) from Greece - Το δικό μας μεσημεριανό!

In Greece we leave school at 2pm. We have lunch at home, where our parents or sometimes grandmothers make delicious food.

The traditional Greek dishes are pasta cooked in many different ways, fish, seafood and pulses.

We also love souvlaki or gyros. We buy it at one of the many souvlaki restaurants near our houses and it is brought to our home.

  2. Hi! Your lunch looks so different to ours. We think you have lots of beans and pasta. What do you normally drink? In your pasta photo what is the red stuff? We would also like to know what souvlaki is? Thank you for helping with our learning.

We loved your photopeach about your lunch in Greece. We learnt some things from it, like how pasta is the traditional food in greece and how pasta is cooked in different ways.

  4. Hi!
Thank you for helping us with our learning. We really like your lunch. It looks delicious and we wish or lunch was like that too. We have lunch at 12:30pm at school. Can you please tell us what your favourite food is and some of the names of the food? After we have finished lunch the school gets to play for 1 hour. At school we mostly have sandwiches fruit and something like a packet of chips.

  5. Hello I am Anne, a teacher from Australia and a friend from HLW skypers. Our school day starts at 9am and finishes at 3:30pm. Our students eat their lunch at school and usually pack a sandwich and some fruit. We have a canteen that sells nice home cooked foods eg stirfry, fried rice, pizzas, home made pies, toasted sandwiches etc.
Our traditional meal would be a roast, or barbecue. However, as there are many other cultures living in our capital city, we have access to many different dishes.

  7. Hi Rebecca and Elizabeth
We drink orange and lemon juice, cola, iced tea, sprite and of course water.
The red stuff on the pasta is a traditional sauce made of minced meat and tomato!
We LOVE souvlaki. It's pitta bread with grilled meat, onions, tzatziki(yougurt sauce),french potatoes and tomatoes. Some like it spicy with red pepper! Yummy!!!
What's your favourite food? Please, send us your photos and videos!

  8. Hi, your lunch looks fantastic!!! Students in Taiwan have lunch at school. We have a big kitchen in school so our parents can work without worring what to cook or what to prepare for their children's lunch. Have a great day!
